I have now made every single prediction you could possibly make about the following baseball season except for one, the American League MVP. It seems all of Major League Baseball is kind of lacking
on pitching and since the American League is loaded with offense I expect many sluggers will put up huge numbers in the American League this season.

The reigning MVP is certainly capable of being a MVP Candidate once again in 2007. I expect Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau to put up similar numbers; the only question will be how Michael Cuddyer and Torii Hunter play. Vernon Wells puts up great all around numbers every season. Derek Jeter and Manny Ramirez will always be popular choices for the home run race. I think this might also be the year for Eric Chavez, finally he will stay healthy and have a big season batting ahead of Mike Piazza and Nick Swisher. Mark Teixeria is a guy who could have numbers as good as anybody but the team losing will keep him just out of the top five, which includes these players:

5. Vladimir Guerrero
Vladimir Guerrero is so consistent it is scary. If you look at his career stats you will see that puts up the same stats almost every year, and they're great stats. A .300 batting average, 30 home runs, and 120 RBI are normal for Vladimir Guerrero. Guerrero will be the offense for the Angels.

4. Ichiro
As I've said on a few occasions, I love the idea of Ichiro Suzuki playing in a contract year. On a regular year Ichiro broke the hits single season record, what can he do if a player plays even better in their contract year like people say?

3. Grady Sizemore
I say this every year, but I think this is the year the Cleveland Indians make a big leap forward they could even win the very competitive American League Central. If they do so Grady Sizemore is going to be the star off the offense so he will get a lot of the recognition in turning around the Indians franchise.

  • Alex Rodriguez will win the American League MVP in 2007
  • David Ortiz will have to have better numbers than anybody by a wide margin to win.
  • Ichiro Suzuki could have a big year in his contract year.

Great article! I don't really follow sports, but this is a very well-written piece.
