CSO -Can Celebs Age Gracefully?

The controversial question of to "nip and tuck or not to nip and tuck" for our ageing celebrity society is a major decision. The experience of age is also at odds with conventional wisdom and for some, at the recent Oscars, the "not to nip and tuck" celebs such as Helen Mirren and Clint Eastwood was
a fresh sight for pinched eyes.

Actor/Director Clint Eastwood has been nominated for no fewer than six Oscars since 2003 and looks remarkable for his age. The empahsis on hiring younger actors has led so many famous actors/actresses to fall under the knife in order to maintain a youthful look. However, this does not always go as expected. The conventional emphasis on marketing of oneself, selling oneself, adds fire to the already overly pucked-up faces of celebs who have gone too far.

Are these old celebs undermining what is expected from Hollywood stars by ageing gracefully? I believe that they are. Ageing is good for you and the policies of Hollywood to hire actors/actresses who's eyes are fixed in a frightened glare due to too much cosmetic surgery must soon catch up with what the public want. Real people with real expressions.

Ageing is a fact of life and one that some are not very comfortable with. The first sign of a grey hair and teenagers are off to the hairdresser, the first sign of a blemish on their face, people run off for Botox. Imagine what the world would look like if everyone took on this misconception of beauty. We would all look like a creature out of an alien movie. Faces pinned back so sharp that a smile sneers at you constantly, popping eyes and a large head from where all the excess skin is gathered over the years.

Take a close look at Clint Eastwood and tell me do you think he would look better with his face strapped to the back of his head? With his eyes opened so wide that he can't close them and with lips pumped-up like motorcycle tyres? I think that he has kept somthing by ageing that not a lot of other celebs have....he has facial character. Now for those in Hollywood who do not need older people to play older parts then they are heading in the right direction as all of their aged stars faces will look like a polished floor.

  • so much cosmetic facial surgery that your face will look like a polished floor
  • can you imagine Clint Eastwood with popping eyes and his skin so tight, a constant grin?
  • who will play the older characters in our movies....

I think that growing old gracefully is far better than having your face pulled back so tight that you cant even close your eyes. To many people today need to feel young but when they overdo it they look like aliens.
