A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

It is a period of civil war. Although Supreme Chancellor Palpatine now rules the galaxy with an iron grip and has declared himself Emperor, various star systems have risen up against Imperial rule and declared themselves in open rebellion against the tyrannical New Order.

In the Rebellion's most perilous crisis, a motley crew of Rebels, made up by the veteran Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, his new apprentice Luke Skywalker, the dashing space pirate Han Solo and his Wookiee copilot Chewbacca, and Skywalker's two droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, has infiltrated the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough firepower to destroy an entire planet. Their two-fold mission: to deactivate the Death Star's tractor beam -- and rescue Princess Leia Organa.

Now, wearing the armor of two Imperial stormtroopers, Han and Luke escort a "captive" Chewbacca to a bank of elevators that will take them to the detention area in Level Five of the moon-sized battle station. Once there, they hope to rescue the Princess and escape aboard the
Millennium Falcon. If Obi-Wan Kenobi manages to shut down the tractor beam, then the small band of freedom fighters can return the Princess -- and the stolen Death Star plans stored in R2's memory banks -- to the Rebel Alliance.....

Because most of the second half of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope deals with the rescue of Princess Leia from the Death Star and the crucial battle against the Empire's planet-killing battle station, it's no wonder that Kenner/Hasbro would release various figures and multi-figure sets depicting either the costumed character (Luke Skywalker or Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise or different scenes from this part of the film (the three Star Wars 25th Anniversary two-figure packs, or the more recent Trash Compactor Scene Packs released in 2003).

  • Cinema Scenes recreate pivotal moments from the Star Wars saga
  • Death Star Escape is rare, hard to find
  • Figures are well done and highly detailed
