There are quite a number of people today that are concerned with how their eyes look and there are thousands of products that are designed to make them look better. But what about making them healthier? People tend to not think about the health of their eyes on a regular basis unless they have some sort of eye disease.

There have been studies recently that show proper nutrition is very important to keeping eyes healthy and preventing future eye problems, especially those that are more common in older men and women. Most, however, do not obtain enough nutrition from their diet.

There are vitamin supplements made specifically for the purpose of keeping your eyes healthy. As an alternative, however, there are steps you can take to help ensure healthy eyes without taking another pill.

Protecting your eyes is important. Going out into the sun can be bad for your eyes because of UV rays. To help prevent eye damage from UV rays, make sure sunglasses have high UV protections. Wearing sunglasses might also help a little to block wind and dust from getting in your eyes which can also cause problems.

Smoking is also very bad for your eyes. It damages cells throughout the entire body and this includes cells in your eyes. Eventually there is a risk of this cell damage leading to some vision loss.

Omega-3 fatty acids are very good for your eyes and will help keep them healthy. Some foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids include fish, flaxseed oil, kiwi and eggs. Flaxseed oil can also help treat dry eye syndrome.

Yes, our eyes are important. My mom has all ready had several eye surgeries. I try to do what I can to keep mine healthy. But I do worry about looking at the computer screen too much.

You have another hit! I am one of those people who never thought about eye health until I was diagnosed with Iritis.
