The best time to start saving for retirement is now. You don't want to wait until you are only five years away from retiring before you realize that you might be needing the extra money for retirement. The time to start saving money should always be as soon as you have the means to do so.

If you don't feel that you have the money to save for the future, maybe you should think again. Unless you want to be in the category of people who draw the minimum of Social Security benefits, then you should start saving without hindering it any further.

What would happen if you put one dollar a day into a savings account? That amount seems small but in the end, it will no doubt began to become larger and draw interest. You may be thinking that the interest is small but I personally would rather have my money drawing more money than to have it just sitting there. The key to saving money in a savings account is to not take any money out of it, think of it as a rainy day fund and leave it alone.

The dollar a day plan that is described above is easy to do and will not take a huge chunk of change from your wallet. This amount may not seem like much and that is the key to doing it, putting money away that seems like no money at all. If you were to do this then you would be putting $365 away for retirement per year. Now times that amount against the years that you have to retire. If you are still young, this amount could help you out a lot in the retirement process. If you are getting closer to retirement, this amount will only aid in helping you to get on your feet in the even that something happens and you need extra money.

Remember to think about your future before you touch this money, your retirement could depend on it.
