Ah, so you've chosen to play a priest! Of all the classes in World of Warcraft, the Priest is one of the most essential in a group. The Night Elf priest also has many advantages. The priest can be a healer, has the ability to resurrect the dead and can also throw out a high amount of damage when needed and according to what talents you take. However, you do still need to remember that priests can only wear cloth armor and don't take a hard hit very well. Power Word: Shield will be your friend when it comes to battles and also to healing others in group activities. You have three talent trees you can begin to put points into starting at level 10.

Discipline

There are many great talents in the Discipline tree and many good reasons to put points into this. Discipline priests can also do a lot of damage and manage their mana and regeneration rates very well. Many priests choose the Discipline tree for damage. Most people that go Holy-spec also put points into Discipline. While many people are not too crazy over the end talent, a good mix from the Discipline tree and Holy work well as well as mainly Shadow with some points in Discipline. Unbreakable Will is in the top tier and increases your chance to resist stun, fear and silence effects which is very useful. Improved Fortitude and Shield are also great.

Mental agility reduces the mana cost of your instant cast spells and Meditation allows a percentage of your mana regeneration to continue while casting. These are popular talents to have if you are a Holy priest as well so that you can conserve and regenerate mana easily. Putting all 5 points in Silent Resolve reduces your threat by 20% which is also helpful where you are Holy or Discipline specced.
