How to Relax and Refresh Yourself in an Hour
The Saturday Night Bubble-bath Spa Ritual
Growing up, I learned the art of self care as a young girl. One of my favorite "rituals" was the Saturday night bubble bath-spa. It stuck with me. Though I spent some time without a "real" tub to soak in, the bubble bath spa night is still a wonderful way to relax and refresh; and it only takes abouFirst, you'll need to gather your favorite facial cleanser and moisturizing masque or moisturizer, some pillar candles, votives, and tea lights, your favorite mood music and a CD or tape player-Please practice electrical safety and keep this a safe distance from any water. Next, you need a glass of champagne, wine, sparkling cider, or other favorite beverage; and some chocolates. You will also want to have a small tray for the drink and chocolates; and stool or chair to place it on. This should go next to the tub to provide you with easy access. Turn the phone off, let the voicemail pick up, put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the bathroom door, and immerse yourself in your very own, at home spa night.
Start by pulling your hair back and putting it up to keep it dry. Next, fill the bathtub with very warm water-but not hot-you want to feel pampered, not poached. Pour in a handful of your favorite bubble bath, bath salts, or bath oil/milk. While the tub is filling, cleanse your face and apply the moisturizing masque or moisturizer lotion.
Make sure you've placed your chocolates and beverage within reach. Now, light the candles; turn the music on and the lights off; and slip into your very own twenty minutes of bliss. Close your eyes and listen to the music. Enjoy your chocolates slowly; let them melt on your tongue and savor the smoothness. Sip your beverage and enjoy the candlelit peace. Let the warmth of the water work its way through to your frayed nerves to soothe them.
