It can be hard to determine which movies are appropriate for the youngest viewers. Here are my top 10 movies
picks for kids 10 and under:
1. Happy Feet. This movie is about a penguin who learns that dancing is what he was born to do. Children love this movie because of all the singing and fun dance moves. Children also learn that it is okay to be different, which is a necessary life lesson.
2. Monster House. This movie may be a little bit on the scarier side for some, but it is one of my childrenâs favorite movie. There is a grumpy old man across the street the kids are scared of. They donât know that the man is just trying to protect them from the house. They become friends with the man at the end. This movies teaches children not to judge people without first getting to know them.
3. Ice Age: The Melt Down. This movie focuses on a mammoth, sloth, and a saber tooth tiger. They have to escape some melting ice that is threatening to flood their home. In the movie the animals have to face and overcome their fears. That was something I was happy to explain to my children after they watched the film.
4. Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia. Barbieâs back with a whole new adventure. She must find the courage to save a friend and learn the importance of working together. I found myself just as intrigued with this movie as my children. This movie has lots of adventure and a pretty funny moments when Bibble (the little puffball) eats some magic berries.
5. Cars. This movie is about a racecar who is full of pride. After being stranded in a small town forced to do manual labor, the car learns that life isnât all about him. This film teaches your children about humility.
6. Brother Bear. Brother Bear is about a boy who has no regard for animal life and kills a bear. Then the boy gets turned in to a bear and has to learn what life is like for a bear. This movie is inspirational and teaches children to consider what life is like for animals.
