To Make a Custom Upholstered Head Board With Some Annie Leibovitz's Photographs You Will Need:

MDF (3, 6, or 9 Pieces, sizes described below)

Jig Saw

Foam

Fabric

Staple Gun

Screws

Flat L brackets

Spray adhesive

Canvas fabric

Scissors

Photo transfer paper

Annie Leibovitz photos

The first step is to cut your MDF to size. I recommend letting the professionals at the home improvement store make these cuts for you. They only charge 25 cents a cut! I recommend about 15 inches by 15 inches. You will be covering a bunch of squares to build one large headboard.

My measurements are merely recommendations for a pop art bed headboard. You can easily change the dimensions of this custom upholstered headboard for a twin, full, or king-sized bed based.

Cut separate pieces of MDF to these specific measurements: 15X15 inches.

Now, have the Annie Leibovitz photo canvas cut out to 18 by 18 inches. This will allow for about 3 inches to overlap onto the back to attach it.

You need at least three of these, but you can make it as wide or as tall as you want.

Takeaways
  • Place three in a row or however many you need to be as wide as your specific bed.
  • Line the squares up at the bottom of the headboard.
  • This line should be straight, causing a straight line at the top of the dorm room headboard.
