Rich Meyer is a champ at developing a rapport with his audience. He gets his audience involved in his one-man show early and often. Playing modern classics and mixing his music with stand-up comedy, Rich Meyer makes it quite difficult not to like him. In fact, Meyer gets many a fan to sing and dance right alongside him on stage. And don't be shocked when Meyer leads the audience in a conga line.
Local publications praise Rich Meyer and his one-man show, dubbed "One man, one guitar, one good time." The Bergen Record called Rich Meyer "a phenomenon." The Asbury Park Press stated, "...Meyer can now rightly claim to be New Jersey's third most famous musician." Shout Magazine claims that Rich Meyer is "the most popular one-man act in New Jersey."
Rich Meyer tends to attract a big crowd, and that crowd gets what they are looking for: a warped sense of humor and some damn fine music. Meyer has performed at various college venues, including Fairleigh Dickinson University, Mount Saint Mary College, Rowan College, and the University of New Haven.
Rich Meyer has performed in the Tristate area for over two decades, and he performs between two hundred and two hundred and fifty shows each year. He also hosted a cable television show called "Jersey Shore Entertainment Update" from 1994 to 1997. He plans to release CDs of his performances in the near future.
Word is that Rich Meyer's shows can be a bit dirty, but that wasn't the case during his performance at Broadway Bar in Point Pleasant Beach. In fact, I requested the song "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton, and he cleaned it up and sang a parody of the song called "Propane." I was a bit disappointed, but I suppose it depends on the venue.
