Procrastination and time management are a never ending challenge for many working adults who strive to balance family and career. With the stress induced from an overwhelming lifestyle, many find they are searching for endless ways to stay motivated in an overly stressful world.

One such way to reduce stress in your life, and to regain focus, is to practice a one-hour ritual each day. Map out your day and allocate, at least, one hour each day to de-stress and focus, only, on the de-stressing process. While most health experts would suggest this one-hour ritual should be a focus on exercise and fitness, it can actually be anything you want it to be. Taking a walk in a park, sitting in a warm bubble bath, talking on the phone with friends or even engaging in a passion or hobby you have always been interested in. The key, then, is to focus on this one event during this hour, without regard to any other activities. Do not feel guilty for taking your one-hour ritual and be sure to drop everything you are doing when the "appointment" for that ritual comes upon you.

One other key aspect of relieving stress in working adult is to focus on your lunch hour. While many busy adults tend to work straight through the lunch hour, it is important that this hour be taken and used for it's intent; to break away from the busy schedule of the day. In some corporations, when employees are known for failing to leave the office for lunch, the company provides a message board, often in the break room, where employees can create clubs and groups for lunch. One such group might meet to talk about the challenges and blessings of single parenting while another group may want to discuss real estate investing. By creating these focus groups, during the lunch hour, employees are encouraged to bring their lunch to work and then engage in discussions of interest, often promoting relaxation in the middle of the day.

Takeaways
  • Stress, when overwhelming, can lead to complications at home and at work
  • Using simple delegation techniques, you can reduce the chores and home renovation projects
  • Setting aside one hour a day to focus on your personal health can improve stress levels
