Kelly Ripa: Annoying or Adorable?

I think Kelly Ripa is adorable. My husband thinks she is annoying. He is odd man out in this house. My kids like her. My father likes her. I think even the dogs like her.

I have always liked Regis. I never watched Live when Kathie Lee Gifford was the co host. Now, that was someone we agreed on. Kathie Lee with her holier than thou attitude was just plain irritating. Her perfect kids that she talked about incessantly was more than enough for me to change the channel. Kelly Ripa on the other hand, isn't afraid to discuss the not so wonderful aspects of motherhood. I don't want to be friends with women that give me the impression they think their kids are like the second coming, so I don't want to watch them on television either. Especially not at 9 a.m.

Kelly Ripa's first big break was on the ABC soap, "All My Children". Her character, Hayley was a bit of a teen vixen that evolved into a moral,upstanding wife and mother. To up the adorable factor, Kelly met her husband to be on the show, Mark Consuelos. Mark is a substitute co host on Live at times and their chemistry is very appealing.

When Kathie Lee Gifford decided to exit her post as Regis Philbin's sidekick, Kelly Ripa was eventually hired after trying out quite a few possibilities. It was clear from the beginning she was the front runner. Kelly is quick witted, attractive and has an incredible sense of humor. She can hold her own with Regis. Kelly's vivaciousness is the perfect counterpart to Regis' gruffness. He is the cranky uncle and she is the fun loving sister. Viewership increased in that first year. My one little household contributed to that, thank you very much.

Kelly Ripa is arguably the most relatable television host. Whether she is dancing with Madonna or cooking with Emeril, she injects a dose of self deprecating humor that lets you know she realizes she is one lucky gal. She is not an Oscar winning actress, nor is she the most stunning beauty that ever graced our television sets. She is a somewhat talented actress whose bubbly personality took her farther than she herself had ever dreamed.
