Laxative Laced Doughnuts Passed Out at Middle School

In some of the most bizarre news being reported recntly in the United States is the report of a number of eight graders lacing doughnuts with laxatives and then giving the doughnuts to their classmates.

The report of the doughnut lacing is coming out of Holtsville, Suffolk County, New York. The incident began when local eigth grade students thought they would play a practical joke for April Fool's Day. The group of students prepared a number of doughnuts and passed them out at school thinking it was funny.

The incident took place at Sequoya Middle School, which is located on Long Island, New York. In total nineteen students and one teacher were affected after eating the laced doughnuts.

When its was discovered that something was not right about the doughnuts the affected students and teacher were looked at by the school nurse and Holtville rescue workers that were called in as an extra precaution. A spokeswoman for the local Sachem School District said that there were no serious health problems because of the doughnut lacing incident.

Five children are responsible for lacing and passing out the doughnuts at the middle school. Two of the children are aged 13 and three are aged 14. Each child was given a ticket by the local police and will have to make an appearance in Family Court. Because the children are still minors there names are being kept private. The school is also expected to impose "appropriate disciplinary action."

Each child was charged with second degree tampering with a consumer product. After the incident at the Sequoya Middle School parents of attending children were informed. Parents were told that classes would continue for the rest of the day as normal, but if they wanted, parents would be allowed to come and collect their children from the school.

The prank was uncovered when one of the children gave a laced doughnut to a health sciences teacher. Thanks to the teacher's good observations, it was noticed that the doughnut contained something that should not have been there. When discovered by the teacher the student admitted to the crime of tampering with the doughnut and also turned in his accomplices.
