Are you on a diet? Are you trying to lose weight but have a limited budget? (Or perhaps, you just want to save money so you can reward yourself after you meet your goal.) Sure, there's Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and Slim Fast. Unfortunately, most of those diet plans are also very expensive.
If you are trying to lose weight, but don't want to break your budget, it's a great idea to follow a low calorie, high fiber diet. Here are some cheap and inexpensive diet food ideas for you.
Cheap Diet Food #1: Tuna Fish
Tuna fish is wonderful for inexpensive diet meals. It's high in protein, low in fat and carbohydrate-free. One idea is to mix a can of tuna fish with mustard and pepper. Eat it with one serving of low-fat whole wheat crackers. It makes a perfect diet meal, low in calories and fat, but high in protein. Be sure to purchase tuna fish in water, not in oil. If you choose to add mayonaise, keep in limited and be sure to add the calories. A 4 ounce can of tuna fish is about 3 weight watchers points. The cost depends on where you live, but it is usually under a dollar.
Cheap Diet Food #2: Beans
Beans are a fantastic diet food that won't break your budget. You can purchase a 16 oz bag of beans with thirteen servings for about a dollar. Beans are high in fiber and low in fat. One great idea is to cook them in the crock pot. You can add a beef bouillon cube and some chopped onions for taste. If you really want to splurge, you might add a jalepeno as well. Beans are low-cost, yet very nutritious. A half of a cup of cooked pinto beans is 2 weight watchers points.
Cheap Diet Food #3: Eggs
A third inexpensive food that is great for dieting is eggs. As with all of these foods mentioned, moderation is the key. (Be sure to count calories or weight watchers points.) Eggs are high in protein, but not high in carbohydrates. They are incredibly cheap but can provide you with lots of energy for the day. They are only two weight watchers points.
