Man Who Raped Daughter in Graveyard Gets Life in Prison

On March 10, 2006, the life of Cedric B.Favors 16 year-old daughter would be changed forever. While walking from his sister's home just days after his daughters 16th birthday, Favors decided to take his daughter to a graveyard and rape her, taking her back a second time and sodomizing her. Before the rape, Favor's had told his daughter that he had known a shortcut and decided they would take it. The daughter was in complete shock to learn what her father had in store for her.

Cedric Favors is being charged with rape, incest and aggravated sodomy, and prior to his hearing was held without bond.

On March 20, 2007, Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. announced the conviction and sentencing of Cedric B. Favors on charges that he had raped his daughter in a graveyard on Forest Park Road in Atlanta, Georgia. During the court procedure it was told that Favors told his daughter "You're old enough to start going out with boys, so I'm going to break you in."

The daughter who's name is being withheld due to her being a minor made a statement to the court and her father, she said "you made me feel loneliness, shame, guilt, fear, confused, depression, betrayal and embarrassed...I got so depressed that I wanted to kill myself. How could someone I trust to protect me and I knew all my life do something as evil and dirty as this?" In her last sentence she ended it by saying, "I love myself enough to stand up for my rights and I love other people enough to respect their rights."

March 30,2007, Fulton County courts sentenced Cedric B.Favors to life in prison without parole and 20 years that is to be served consecutive. Judge Baxter who had no tolerance for Favors,bluntly stated as he was passing down Favors sentence "You did this to your daughter twice..once in the graveyard and then again in the courtroom. I have no sympathy for you."
