A Favorite of Locals and Visitors Alike for Good Food and a Great Atmosphere

A favorite of locals and visitors alike, Krogh's Restaurant and Brew Pub across from Lake Mohawk in Sparta, New Jersey is a great place to eat.

Recently I was in Sparta NJ for my husband's 20^th high school reunion with Sparta High School Reunion Class of 1989. We spent a day touring around the town in which he grew up with our kids. We decided to eat lunch a Krogh's Restaurant & Brew Pub located just across the street from Lake Mohawk.

Krogh's is a long time establishment and favorite of the locals. Check their website for specific historical facts regarding the establishment. Our hostess and the manager told me she had been working there for 22 years and that most staff had been there for quite some time. She said that the tavern was currently owned by the Fuchs family and had been for approximately 25 years. When I explain that I'm in town with my husband for his High School reunion she asks about the details of the event. We'll be having dinner and dancing the following evening at the Lake Mohawk Country Club located on the boardwalk across the street. She nods and says, "Thank you, I'll need another bar tender tomorrow night."

Upon entering one notices first the cozy, dark, tavern feel of the room. Family friendly high chairs were offered and provided. Children's meals were on the menu and children's drinks arrived in Styrofoam cups with lids and straws. A coloring page featuring Fillmore from "Cars" and crayons were also provided to each child.

After ordering our lunch I look closer at the drink menu. 27 Martinis of different flavors are offered. In addition there are the Krogh's Craft Brewed Beers: Three Sister's Golden Wheat, Krogh's Gold, Alpine Glow Real Ale, Brogden Meadow Pale Ale, Log Cabin Nut Brown, Old Krogh Oatmeal Stout, and Krogh's Seasonal Brews. Live entertainment is offered on certain nights. They are advertising their recent status as a WiFi hotspot.

Lunch arrives. All my juvenile testers are pleased with their choices. I ordered a Pastrami Reuben, at $9.95. It was very good.
