I don't care what anyone says, my son is the number one Duke Boys fan ever! My oldest son introduced my youngest son to the Dukes of Hazzard when they first aired way back when, and he's been a die-hard fan ever since. Now, there are plenty of people in the world who think they are the biggest fan ever, but they can't hold a candle to my son's love for the Good Ol' Boys. My son, Nathan, is mentally handicapped; one minute he's really 28 years old, the next, he's 5. It doesn't matter what age he's acting at the moment, though; he still eats, lives and breathes the Duke Boys, as he calls it. He owns all their movies, posters, tee shirts, and other memorabilia and watches their shows every chance he gets, but at least once a day for years now!
If you're a huge fan like my son, you definitely don't want to miss the Dukesfest, held in June of each year, in Nashville, Tennessee. That's when people of all ages gather to see individually owned General Lee look-alikes, catch glimpses of the original characters from the show, view memorabilia from the show, and even get their pictures taken with the cast.
On Friday, June 1st, the festivities start in the Music Valley area. On Saturday, the 2nd, doors open at the Fairgrounds for the Saturday and Sunday activities. Gates open, and tickets can be purchased, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. You can purchase one-day passes for $25 and two-day passes, in advance, are $35. Military service people, with proper ID, can enter for free, as well as kids 10 and under. At the gate, tickets are $30 and $40.
If you own a General Lee Car, you and three others can get in for free, but you must register the car. You can also get in free if you own a look-alike Official Series Patrol Car or Official Series Hazzard County Car (Daisy Jeep, Uncle Jesse Truck). You'll also receive a special hotel rate, particularly if you stay at the General Lee Hotel. You'll need a special code for the discount, so after you register your car, you'll receive an email containing this code and other info.
