Review of the Leapster L-max Learning System

I purchased the Leapster L-max learning system for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it and it has turned into a great learning tool for her.

The Leapster L-max learning system is a Leap Frog product and works as a portable game with 4 AA batteries or you can hook it up to your television with a cable that comes with it. The Leapster L-max works with any of the Leapster game library and is recommended for children ages 4-10 years. That's a lot of use. Some of the skills your child can learn include Math, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Science, and more. There is an attached "pen" that your child will use to touch the screen to answer problems, practice writing letters, and more.

The Leapster L-max I purchased came preloaded with a Scooby Doo game. I also purchased a game called "Letters on the Loose" as well as a Dora the Explore and Disney Princess game. On the game you purchase, it will tell you the recommended age for that game. The Leapster L-max was around $50 and expect to pay $15-$30 for each games. I found them buy one, get one free at Toys R Us, so look for sales. It should be easy to find your child's favorite character game as there are many to choose from and include Nemo, Cars, Spongebob, Madagascar, and the Incredibles.

This game was completely worth the money. My pre-schooler has learned many sounds of the alphabet and has master writing most of them. The fact that this game is portable makes it great for car trips, restaurants, and waiting rooms... anywhere you need your child to be occupied I'm not a big fan of game systems and didn't want my child getting hooked on them, but this Leapster L-max is such a great learning tool that I'm happy she likes to play with it.

We've went through many AA batteries with this system. (my only complaint) For around $40, you can buy a battery recharger for it, so if that is within your budget, I recommend it. I didn't realize how fast my daughter would go through them, so I plan to buy the recharger soon.
