This is the first in what hopefully will be a daily article I publish for the fantasy baseball fans with news on the top performers of the previous days to help you in picking up your free agent pickups in your leagues and finding who you are going to try to trade for from the less knowledgeable owners in your league. I will cover categories in my articles such as the typical offensive and pitching categories that most leagues use.

Offensively on Monday, April 2nd there were only two players that hit two home runs. These players were Adam Dunn of the Cincinnati Reds and Edgar Renteria of the Atlanta Braves. Both players home runs only produced a total of three rbi's. With Renteria being an shortstop his power numbers are probably more attractive, but both players are unlikely to be found on waiver wires and would require a trade to acquire. Speaking of rbi's Miguel Cabrera of the Florida Marlins led the major leagues on April 2nd with four of them. Five other players in the league joined Dunn and Renteria with three rbi's each, with Mark Grudzielanek of the Royals probably being the only player you might be able to find on the waiver wire list in your league. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez of the Marlins led the league in hits yesterday getting four base hits in six plate appearances with two of them being doubles. Ramirez also contributed two stolen bases, he might be a player you want to try to trade for early in the year before other owners realize he is a potential 25 home run - 50 stolen base threat who hits for a high average. The ageless Kenny Lofton also contributed two stolen bases for those of you looking to pick up players to assist in that category.

Takeaways
  • Only two players on the first full day of the season contributed two home runs.
  • Felix Hernandez showed he was the hot player of the day with his 8 shutout innings and 12 k's.
  • Hanley Ramirez showed that his a double threat in hits and stolen bases for fantasy baseball again.
