Bloodletting Actor James L Edwards is Back from the Grave
And it All Happens June 9
Tell me about your new movie "June 9" and your role in it. Any interesting stories from the set?"June 9" was really my comeback to indie cinema. I had taken a break for almost seven years because I was really unhappy with the company that I had been working with in both quality of films and the filmmaker himself. It's not a good sign when you've done 26 movies and you'll admit to three of them. So, I decided to quit low budget film making and settle down to a "normal life". I got married, got divorced, got married again, had some kids and just figured that the whole movie thing was something that I'd ramble about in my old age to whoever would listen. That all changed when I got a call from indie director T. Michael Conway.
In the 90's, Conway and I had run in the same Ohio scene, but in different circles. He started out as an effects artist for Riot Pictures out of Kent, Ohio, makers of the Troma release "Killer Nerd" and it's sequel. I had been working for Tempe Video out of Akron, creators of "The Dead Next Door". We had first become friends on an action film I had a small role in called "Urban Legend" that he worked as Director Of Photography for. Conway was preparing a reality horror film called "June 9" that he wanted me to take a look at. I had explained to him that I was no longer "in the biz", but he still asked if I would read the script. I was blown away. It was unlike anything I had done before, which as an actor is always something you search for. Not only did it make me decide to get back into acting, but also agreed to come aboard as producer. We're currently looking for a distributor, but in the meantime it's doing quite well On Demand, so I can't complain.
Most of the story revolves around actual ghost legends from an area close to where I live called Boston Mills. It's rumored to be a huge cold spot for the supernatural. We actually shot a day in Boston Mills and were quickly removed by police. Apparently, they're not big fans of people stirring up stories that they've had to deal with for decades. It's a pretty bizarre area, almost like it's frozen in time.
