When you think of dolls for children, your mind automatically goes to Barbie & Ken or Cabbage Patch dolls. After all they are one of the number one barbie dolls in America today. But move over Barbie & Ken, and welcome Felicity 1774, Kirsten 1854, Addy 1864, Samantha 1904,Josephina 1824, Molly 1944 , and the newest edition to the collection Kit1934.

A different approach to playing I would call The American Girl Collection. Each set in their own time era, children can learn a little about history while simply playing and reading about their dolls.

These dolls are beautifully crafted, and are of exquisite quality. I myself purchased the collection for myself and daughters to look at, not to play with. But I guess if you want to spend $86.00 dollars a piece on a doll for your child to throw around, then I guess that is your choice. What I like about these dolls is that you can actually find one that looks similar to your own daughter. And having four daughters of my own that look completely different than one another, the gift of the dolls to each of them was a little more special since they looked like them. They were mesmerized by the likeness in them and swapped to look at each others dolls and compared what features actually looked the same. Not many dolls can give them that kind of happiness.

There are a number of outfits per doll that can be purchased online or off line for various amounts. Outfits can be as low as $15.00, and as much as $60.00 dollars depending on what you are buying.

They also have an interesting website located at http://www.americandoll.com it has many many things for you and your children to do and learn. Online catalog, information about each doll, new dolls that will be coming out, movies featuring the dolls themselves and many other interesting activities to keep your daughters occupied for hours on end.. So if your thinking of buying The American Doll Collection , but not too sure yet, please stop by and take a look at their website first. Research the different types they have, prices and definitely the quality of each doll.
