I have read, especially lately, many articles written by both sides of the political spectrum, Extreme Left (or Socialistic Left) and the Extreme Right (or Capitalistic Right). Their battle for the hearts and minds of Americans seems to me to be an archaic, irrelevant, cold war battle, with no real base in reality. If both sides were capable of taking a honest, good, long, hard, look at themselves, they would see that they both support failed ideologies. However, both sides still exist and both sides, when they feel threatened, recall slogans and spin (*Note to reader, see* jingoism, saber rattling, self incrimination and intellectual elitism) from days gone by to attack one another's views and in the end nothing real or good or real good gets accomplished.

The following, just in case you didn't know, are just some examples of the Left-Right rhetoric, tinged with some truths:

The Capitalistic Right (or value voters as they like to refer to themselves) refer to the Socialistic Left as Communistic, intellectual evil-doers, who want to take all hint of self determination from the American Population and turn them into mindless residents of a state run utopia.

The Extreme Left espouses that the Fascist Right are corporate whores, who will stop at nothing to secure their own power and wealth. They will murder, coerce, cajole and in general make life miserable for anyone (including their own citizens) for profit and hegemony.

Is there a third view that could unite these polar opposites and actually more accurately reflect modern America? I for one believe that as time goes on, the disgust from the American Middle (directed at the Left and the Right) will become more prevalent and could hold the possibility of producing a Strong New Party. Then again, maybe party politics is the problem. Maybe, if someone runs for office they should run on the issues of the day and their true conscience in regards to these issues and let the people decide. Yaa right...That'll Happen...! Any way you look at it, the Left have their truths and the Right has theirs, but in the middle is where reality lies and I'm rooting for the Middle.

I don't know what points are good according to Jim. Can you name one good socialist program? Can you tell me what's good about a centrist(or as better defined a person with no conviction)? Or what's good about a person with core convictions.... oh....I don't know, like belief in restricted government, lower taxes, personal responsibility, free enterprise, family values, where do I stop? Please stop the propaganda Deez, You sound like you want to turn America into the country I risked life and limb to escape from. For God's sake be careful what you wish for, for you just might get it and I guarantee you wont like it, though I'm sure you'll find a way to blame the right for your troubles.

I think I am a middle of the road girl, although that sounds sorta wishy-washy I believe the best of both sides can be found if we try hard enough. It doesn't help anyone to fight over who is right and who is wrong when there are issues needing to be taken care of. We know that when Americans work together they can do so much for the world so why is it that they tend to argue best?

Most people in America are actually toward the middle of the political spectrum. Americans hate taxes but like government-funded programs. Most like a nice economy but also want to save the environment. The problem is that with today's Democratic and Republican Parties, there is a "roll with us or get nothing" mentality. In order to see something happen with the environment, you have to throw your hat in with the pussy party that can't make up their minds. If you want to see taxes lowered, you have to support a rhetoric-powered sleaze party that's in the pocket of the religious right. There is no compromise because neither party can afford to give in when majorities dictate everything. This is why I think there should be compulsory voting with a "no candidate" option on the ballot. That way parties could see that a shitload of Americans don't support their bullshit and would rather vote for no one than someone they don't support. These people stand aside from those who are too
