Anti-Vibration Isolation Pads from Super Soundproofing Saved Our Sanity
We had a problem with a vibrating, noisy air-conditioner on our condominium roof. The air conditioner was causing a noisy, irritating, humming noise. To be frank, we had a problem that was driving us crazy. This constant humming was causing us lots of grief. After reading many
articles about how to stop the noise we found a great solution for the noisy roof mounted air-conditioner. There is a company in San Diego, California that specializes in treating noise problems for both household and Industrial use. This company is called the Super Soundproofing Company. The product is an anti-vibration isolation pad. This sanity saving product is quite well designed, and inexpensive.
The anti-vibration isolation pad is a well engineered product designed to be a buffering barrier. This isolation pad is used to dampen noise and vibration caused by different types of appliances and machinery. The particular usage that we employed was to put one of these isolation pads under each corner of our rooftop air conditioner. Instead of putting the air-conditioner on a concrete pad, the builder of our condo unit took a shortcut. This unit was built in 1976, and construction codes were lax then. Florida construction can be really cheap and poorly undertaken. The anti-vibration isolation pads solved our problem and our sanity. They are great product that we highly recommend.
The anti-vibration isolation pad is a rather clever feat of engineering. It is comprised of a layer of hard rubber with grooves in it. Then a layer of Cork is bonded to the rubber. Another a layer of grooved rubber is added. It looks like a rubber clad, cork sandwich and is approximately 7/8 inches thick. The grooves of the rubber layers are placed at a 90 degree angle, for better noise and vibration reduction. Our particular size was 1 1/2 inches square. The super soundproofing company has larger sizes available to fit different needs and applications.
