The Western Digital "My Book" External Hard Drive is perfect for a computer phobic like me.

One of the most annoying problems faced by computer users is moving a large number of files from one machine to another. This is particularly difficult for those of us who experience chills, nausea and sweat at the thought of opening a PC case and looking inside. Yet most of us must, at one time or another, move from one computer to another. Moving a large volume of files is a daunting task. The PC owner has several choices. There are companies which offer online file storage facilities which will hold and protect your files. Online storage is a good idea for storing some kinds of material but I don't feel quite comfortable with storing sensitive personal financial information.

Some of the options for file storage involve software solutions. The latest version of Microsoft's operating system has a "migration" utility which is designed to assist in the process of moving files from one PC to another. There are other similar dedicated software product solutions which can be purchased at a reasonable price. Most consumers already have their social security account numbers and credit card numbers stored in far too many places to keep account of. In addition to software organizers, the one useful and secure aid to moving files is an external hard drive.

While it's easy to move files and make backups to an external hard drive, an organizer might be a useful purchase particularly if the drive is being used to store voluminous business records. For large applications and backups, Western Digital makes a drive in a 500 GB size which sells in the range of $268.00.
