I love American Idol. I'm a big fan and I watch it every season. But this season has been a big mess with the addition of Sanjaya Malakar and his non-singing self. But call me a hater if you want to but there are a ton of fans of Sanjaya and the support for him is growing by the minute. So we decided to branch out and really see what a fan had to say about Sanjaya. So we had a chat with Clint owner of SanjayaFanNetwork.com so that we could find out what the fascination with Sanjaya is really all about.

Clint - First let me say again, thanks. At www.SanjayaFanNetwork.com we truly do appreciate all the supporters of the cause. Even if the supporters they do not agree with how we are playing the game but still will allow it in their discussion due to the exciting content factor, thanks.

Mike Street - So do you really think Sanjaya can win season 6 of American Idol?

Clint - Of course I do. Assuming that what is written in the fine print during the closing credits of American Idol will not be exercised. For the first time people are voting for a contestant for reasons other than being the best singer. It's like now we have see the best 5 years in arow - let's not make it a one way street when choosing our American Idol.

Mike Street- Why do you think Simon Cowell should quit American Idol?

Clint - Because he said he would quit if Sanjaya wins. He can talk the talk. I don't think he should have said that because a lot of people watch to
see what Simon will say. But if he thinks that Having Sanjaya as our newest American Idol will ruin the show, then he should quit.

Mike Street - Do you think American Idol would be as fun or effective without a
Simon Cowell?

Clint - Absolutely not. If it wasn't for the things he says to people and how he makes most of the contestants feel, we would just love all of the singers. We watch reality shows to see real emotions. It becomes more exciting when there is no way to predict what will happen next. What better way to stir up emotions than Simon turning a person's performanceinside out and crushing the dreams of the next Taylor Hicks.

Mike Street- Which one of Sanjaya's hair styles did you like the best?

The fact that this guy is still in the running tells me that their voting is rigged. What a great schtick to keep viewers coming back to find out when Sanjaya will get the boot.

I think he's just a kid who likes to sing that thought it might be fun to enter a big singing contest. ;) He's not the strongest singer on the show by far but he's not the worst I've ever heard either. Keep in mind he can't keep himself on the show; he is at the mercy of the numbers. This has been a strange season for AI. I think they should redo how the voting process works.

I stopped watching American Idol this season simply because much more talented singers are getting kicked off while this kid, who is by far the least talented singer this season, gets a break week after week. I'm hoping America gives him the boot real soon.

American Idol wasn't a joke until people started voting for 'the weakest link" and made it that way. There's no way someone ...anyone with half the IQ of an apple would vote for sanjaya because he has talent. The fact is he doesn't have any talent whatsp ever and anyone that says he does, is saying that only to have an excuse to vote for him.

I also love American Idol. Michael I enjoy reading your articles.

I guess I see American Idol as a performance contest over a singing contest. Yes, singing is the vehicle, but Blake and Sanjaya are weaker singers but better performers. It's about being entertained, and people are entertained by them. I was bored by Gina and Chris S, but yes, both are better singers.

Nice "conversation" your article is generating, Michael. I'm a big fan of American Idol and I hate what Howard Stern is trying to do in the name of fun. It worries me, too, what he and his followers go after next, just to spoil something else that others love. Between that and all the calls from India, how can we trust the voting and that could make this the last season. That would be a real shame. I'm voting for Dolittle all the way. She's super talented and seems like a hardworking, deserving, sweet kid.

I think it's a shame that people with actual singing talent are being booted off the show because some wiseacres think it's funny to vote for Sanjaya to mess things up. I wonder how those people would feel if it was their talented child up there, and someone voted them off just for a laugh?

I have been hooked on American Idol since it started and am so disappointed at the way this season is going. It seems with websites like votefortheworst.com and howard stern telling people to vote not for the people witn talent but for the person with no talent. It's become a popularity contest instead of a singing contest.

Posted on 04/06/2007 at 12:04:00 PM

I think America will vote Sanjaya as the next American Idol just to see if Simon will really leave the show ;o)

Posted on 04/06/2007 at 12:04:00 PM

I don't think Ms. Dolittle is false at all. I think she is honestly a nice person and an amazing talent.

I can not believe that I'm commenting on a Sanjaya Fan Website Article. I just like I can not believe I wrote and article on Sanjaya. I'm even more surprised that Sanjaya is in the competition. All that said.. this is an excelent article with a great perspective. Kudos..
