If it is your first time to ever visit UNIVERSAL STUDIOS then you definitely need to go on their main attraction THE STUDIO TOUR. The studio tour is a 45 minute tram ride through the famous Universal backlots where movies are made. The place to catch the Studio Tour ride is on a lower level, easy to navigate to from the front gates via map or posted sign. The ride, as mentioned previously, is 45 minutes long, but they have several trams running and usually run them all day long; during park hours. So you shouldn't feel too pressured that you might miss it.
After you wait in the main line for the tram you will then be moved curbside where you will form lines for boarding. There are stars on the sidewalk which designate a spot where someone is supposed to stand. The person at the front of the line will end up sitting all the way to the right on the tram and the person to the back of the line on the far left. Therefore the first person and the last person of each star line will be at the edge of the car. A quick tip of foreshadowing: being the very last person in line may prove to be more entertaining.
You will have one of several goofy hosts narrating your trip from the front car with fun facts. Corresponding with him/her and the sights is a video played on small televisions; currently starring Whoopie Goldberg. The video itself is rather dull and silly, however it is occasionally interesting to see a movie clip and then realize you are parked exactly where that was filmed. On a sunny day the television screens on the tram, depending on time, may be covered in too much glare for you to actually see anything via that electronic tool.
