If you are someone who desires to start researching and developing alternative energy technologies and you would want to be set up as a not-for-profit organization or entity, then you can look into getting government grants on both the state and the federal levels. Government grants for alternative energy R & D have been furthered by politicians on local, state, and federal levels in recently, and that includes the President himself. This is because we now recognize as a society that we need to implement alternative energies to replace our fossil fuels that we presently depend upon, since these fuels' cheaply developed wellsprings are not only slowly but surely running out but they are also damaging to the air we breathe and our environment. The government is willing to give out a lot of grants to help meet this need.

There is no shortage of government grant programs available for you to check out. The great and most important thing to keep in mind about a government grant is that it's money for "nothing". What I mean is, it's not a loan so you don't pay any interest, and you don't ever have to give the money back. But, qualifying for these grants, as you might imagine with something concerning free money or the government, has a large amount of restrictions that define it. Not only is qualification based on need and purpose as interpreted by government bureaucrats, but just because you qualify for the grant does not mean that you necessarily receive the grant money. It is very often easier to apply for and qualify to get a business loan; but of course, that's not free money, it would be something you owed to someone at interest.

Takeaways
  • There is no shortage of government grant programs available for you to check out.
  • There are professional grant writers who know how to write proposals and you may need them.
  • Each year there are many thousands of grants awarded throughout the US to help the public.
