This is a poem I wrote awhile back about the "reorganization" at my former company. Two weeks after I left this company, I found out 50 people were laid off. I felt bad for those who lost their jobs, but I also felt very lucky because I found a job and company that were a better fit for me...and just in time! As I contemplated the situation my former co-workers were going through, this is what came out.
BLANK
It's how my mind is feeling
DRAINED
From all the thinking, the planning, the implementing
Intelligent thoughts replaced by hard pounding
pangs in my head
Listening to Corporate's
incessant yammering about "positive" changes
Questioning authority and decision-making ability
Thinking "reorganization" is a quick fix
for being cheap
It gets hard to focus
but I must
so I can remain
on top of my game!
