The Bible and Child Raising: What Went Wrong?

I was reading today on AOL about 4 children ages 11-13 having sex in a classroom. I was deeply disturbed by this and begin to think about what went wrong with our children today?

In Proverbs 22:26, it says "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from it". This is where the problem lies in our youth today. That is lack of proper training. We do not instill morals into our children at all. We let them do what they want and never discipline a child to keep him on the right path.

People today think that spanking is abuse. I am telling you that sometimes that is the case, but in many cases that is far from true. Proverbs 22:15 says, "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of correction will drive it far from him." But yet laws have been made to keep this form of discipline from happening to are children. We can't scold them, spank them or anything that people think is abuse.

I want to point out that in todays society, child pornography, child predators, sexual immorality among children, violence, murder, thievery and many more terrible things are happening among our youth today. There was a day that you would never have heard or read about 4 children having sex in a class room. That is a shame to us as parents that such children would even be capable of thinking of such things.

Proverbs 23:13 tells us; "Do not hold correction from a child, for if you beat him with a rod he shall not die. 14: You shall beat him with a rod and deliver his soul from hell." Proverbs 29:15: "The rod and rebuke brings wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother." Every single one of these words of truth are ignored and in fact they are fought against in the name of being non abusive.
