Everyone loves a good movie. But I think I speak for a lot of movie goers in saying that the price of admission, drinks and snacks is steadily becoming more than the average family can afford too often. Well, not to take away from the thrill of seeing a movie in this format, but as you can already tell, I'm about to tell you something along the lines of staying home and watching it from the comfort of your own couch. Actually, to be precise, I want to tell you how cool a DVD player can be. I may be out of date here, but I am sure there are others out there who are just as behind if not more. The GE DVD/VHS combo started it's sale at Wal-Mart for about $150 three years ago or so. A year or so later it dropped to $75, and of course I had to get one. Technology does that if you ever have paid attention.
Two things I liked about getting this appliance were the diversity and ease of use. You see, I wasn't sure how I was gonna make myself part with all those tapes the kids loved to watch and re-watch. Some, of course, just found their way to the county dump on account of wear and tear, but for the most part, the favorites have survived. This means we can watch either a tape or DVD on the same player without having to switch wires, remotes, or batteries. And it all connects to each of your other center devices, of course a good console would have to.
Everything is just one or two button controls, even switching from one media to the other. And everyone knows how cool DVDs are, menu screens, options and so on. But until you find a replacement for that old VHS movie you love so much on DVD, why not get something that will play both. I have had absolutely no trouble out of it on either side. And believe me, with a subscription that has a queue 50 strong with NetFlix, this house goes through some movies. And until a particular movie gets eaten up somewhere that's just heartbreaking to splice, our cassettes will still be able to rid its coat of dust on expecting fingertips and eager imaginations.
