Spring Decorating Ideas

The days are longer, there is a slight chill that lingers in the atmosphere and the smell of fresh lavender is in the air. It must be Spring Time! Spring to me is a sign of fresh new beginnings.

Spring is a wonderful time to clean out the old and make room for the new. Last weekend I found myself cleaning out my closets. I could not believe the amount of stuff that I had accumulated over the past year. I found clothes that I haven't worn in years and some items that still had the tags on them.

A friend came over to assist me in getting rid of some of the older items and made this comment, "You have no idea what you have do you"? I had to laugh, because I didn't. I was buying new things to replace things I forgot I even owned.

After I did some thorough Spring cleaning I decided that it was time for a change. Therefore I rearranged some furniture and began drawing out a plan for a Spring Home Makeover. Today I want to share some of my Spring decorating ideas with you.

1. Make a Plan - First things first, you have to plan out your design strategy. Get a plain piece of paper and start drawing out your floor plan. The example room we'll use today is the bedroom. Draw a square on your paper and make sure to include your door, closets and windows. Once you've completed that, then start rearranging the furniture in your room. Perhaps your bed was against the wall and now you want to move it near the window. After you've arranged your furniture it's time to move to the next step...

2. Choose a Color - If you walls are plain, it may be time to introduce some color into the room. If you decide to paint your entire room, make sure you choose a color that makes you smile. I love the color yellow, because it makes me think of sunshine and every time I look at it, it makes me smile. If you're not ready to commit to a color on the walls, why not take baby steps and introduce color into the room through artwork or bedding.
