As a newly single, not by choice, female without any savings who works freelance, budgeting my money has become a major part of my life. It is absolutely necessary that I watch every penny I spend. But there are certain products you just can't fudge on, and laundry detergent is one of those products, along with cheese, but that is another story.

I have tried using cheap laundry detergent with very dismal results. Cheap laundry detergent does not get your clothes clean. Sure, they are washed, but they look dingy and do not smell April fresh like you want them to. Having clean clothes is quite important to me. I want my whites sparkling white, and my colors bright. Even if a person does not have a lot of money, they still want to look and smell their best if they have personal pride.

Being poor is nothing to be embarrassed about, embarrassment should only come when you are poor because you do not try to improve your station in life. That certainly does not apply to me, nor to millions of other people on the planet. I would go as far to remind you of what the bible says, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." You may not be able to help it that you are poor, but there is not excuse to be dirty. Even the homeless people I have come in contact with in my neighborhood in East Dallas fit into two categories, in my opinion. There are the ones who have pride and the ones who don't. You can tell the ones who don't by the smell. :(

Anyway, back to laundry detergent. I had seen Tide's Simple Pleasures laundry detergent advertised on television, and really thought it was a luxury that I defnitely deserved. So I sprung for an eight ounce container. As you know from what I have said above, it was a major case of splurging. But I have not regretted the extra money that i spent for a second.

I received a free product of Tide Simple Pleasures in the mail a while ago. It is just sitting in the cabinet. I may have to try it.

I love Simple Pleasures also. Whether it's Tide or just simple pleasures in general. But since I'm a huge lavender fan, Tide Simple Pleasures is truly an indulgence.
