Magazine 'Outs' Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper
Can you spot Waldo? Or better yet, can you spot who is gay and who is a lesbian? That is the question that a popular magazine is asking the readers. Well, not asking, but pointing out.
On the cover of the recent issue of Out Magazine, a monthly publication for gays and lesbians, two people is featured standing with a mask coving their face. One is of Jodie Foster, the other is of Anderson Cooper. The message, the two stars are still hiding the fact that they are homosexual.
During the editorial, the magazine talks about how Jodie Foster is not exactly in the closet, but not exactly out either. They refer to this as the 'glass closet'. As the editors put it, everyone knows that she is gay but Jodie Foster does not talk about it or does not try to cover it. She just let's people think what they want and continues on with her life.
The same thing is said about Anderson Cooper. Everyone knows that he is gay but regardless of what people say, he never has any comments. He just continues to go on with his life and let the rumors swirl without effecting him.
"I think there are four kinds of gays in Hollywood, there's the openly gay; the gay and everybody knows it but nobody talks about it; the married, closeted gay who doesn't talk about it; and the screaming 'I'll sue you if you say I'm gay' person." stated Howard Bragman, the CEO of the PR firm Fifteen Minutes.
According to Howard Bragman, the reason for both Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper staying silent on their personal preference is because they do not want to be stereotyped.
"A lot of actors are afraid of being defined by their sexuality. In Hollywood they don't cast by positives, they cast by negatives: 'This one's too this or that.' And actors don't want to give red flags. They're actors and want to talk about their mutability, not their personal lives."
You can bet that Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper will not sit back and say 'no comment' after having their faces blasted on the cover of Out Magazine, unless they gave their approval. Which if they did give their approval, that would mean that they are taking the steps to come out of the closet.
We will just have to wait and see what will happen next.
