How do you find the time to workout when you are a mother of 4, working a 36 hour work week in a medical laboratory and spending a countless number of other hours writing, cooking, cleaning, washing, chauffeuring, and whatever else needs to be done? When you get off work, you may be too tired for the hour long aerobics class. And your weekends may be too busy for the trip to the gym. This use to be me, until I started found Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds - 5 Day Fit Walk DVD. This indoor walking system featuring 5 different indoor walking sessions designed to burn calories and tone muscle in the comfort of your own home.
I used to be skeptical of home videos because all the other ones I ever tried (Like Tae Bo) where too intense for me and have a choreography that I could never quite learn. But hands down, Walk Away the Pounds has been the easiest program to learn (There are only four different leg and arm movements to learn). Yet the program is intensive enough to give you a great cardio and muscle toning workout that will help you loose weight.
Besides the fact that I only paid $13.99 for the DVD at Target, the best part about the program is that it gives you the option of doing a quick 18 minute "Get Up and Get Started" 1 mile walk which is a perfect way to start a morning. Add 1 or 2 cycles of yoga sun salutations and you have a great 25 minute morning workout.
The other video options include:
- The High Calorie Burn - A 30 minute 2 mile walk with more intensity and energy than the rest. It will definitely get you sweating, but it's still only 30 minutes.
- The 30 Minute Walk - Another 30 minute 2 mile walk to help build speed and endurance.
- Walk and Kick - This 30 minute workout uses intervals to boost calorie burn. It also adds a few kickboxing moves for fun.
- Leslie Sansone's Power Mile - A 20 minute power walking session that begins with a short warm up, then increases the pace to complete a fast mile.
