I'm a control freak by nature, a gadget-lover by choice. So when I recently witnessed use of a product called Best NetGuard at a friend's home, my gut instinct was to drive home as quick as I could to hit their web site and order one.

Best NetGuard is the ultimate power and control tool for monitoring Internet usage of children, employees, close others! For a mere $39.95 you get the supreme package: a replacement Ethernet cable with a built-in receiver that locks securely to the back of a computer; no tools or software are needed. The remote control keyfob sends a signal to the receiver on the replacement cable which easily connects/disconnects the computer to the internet.

Originally developed as a parental screening tool, it simultaneously was discovered by employers who use it to monitor their associates use of the web on company time. New applications are showing daily because Best NetGuard allows the keyfob holder to instantly sever the Internet connection of one or all computers within an ample space (it currently owns a range of 75 feet but is in the process of expanding this parameter). Guaranteed not to 'surge' or interfere with functions other than Net link usage, typing, printing, etc. are intact functions because the power source is never compromised. Multiple computers can be managed by one remote providing each is fitted with their own Ethernet cable.

I am clueless as to how I endured cohabitation with a husband and three almost teens prior to possessing my discreet, remote control. Its look mimics that of a car remote with just two buttons: a red ON button which triggers the action, i.e. disconnect, while the bland, gray button quiets the signal which open roads access to the web. Pressing the magic "on" button before exiting home equals zero on-line games or chats with strangers for in-house computer users. There's even a tamper-proof lock clip on the Ethernet cable should prying fingers attempt escape from this technology's slap!

Did You Know?
Best NetGuard is an aggressive technology that monitors the use of the internet with a flick of a button.
