I brown bagged my lunch for more than a month so I could squirrel away enough money to buy my first Luis Vuitton Speedy 30 satchel. Since that fateful day in 1995, I've been hooked. Oh sure, Channel and Prada are lovely for evening ware, and a smart little Gucci clutch works at the theatre, but when it comes to the rigors of every day life, give me a "LV" satchel any day of the week. For the last 20 years, I've carried everything from my dog to enough clothing for an overnight trip in my bag. High fashion designers have all tried their hand at creating the next hot purse, but through every trend, the classic LV monogram has survived. When it comes to flexibility and durability, this handbag from France can't be beat.

Throughout the years, the rich and famous, including celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Beyonce, and Paris Hilton, have carried Luis Vuitton satchels all over the world. Since Luis made his first piece of luggage in 1854, the Vuitton signature has been the benchmark for quality when it comes to travel.
The Louis Vuitton Monogrammed canvas material has been their trademark symbol since 1896 when it was first introduced by Luis oldest son, George.
The body of the bag is lightweight, supple canvas made from long staple Egyptian cotton. The international design differs from the bags made by licensed manufacturers in the United States. The bags manufactured in France are a single piece of canvas with no seam on the bottom. The monogram appears upside down on one side of the satchel. The design is practical, sturdy and enduring.

Because the canvas is permeated with vinyl, the Speedy is totally waterproof. One of the best things about the design is that it is also resistant to surface scratches, making it the ideal material for an everyday use bag.

There are four sizes of the Speedy available today- the Louis Vuitton Speedy 40, Speedy 35, Speedy 30 and the Speedy 25.

The Speedy 40 is 16" long by 10" high by 7.5" wide
The Speedy 35 is 14" long by 9" high by 7.5" wide
The Speedy 30 is 12" long by 8" high by 7.5" wide
The Speedy 25 is 10" long by 7" high by 6" wide

Dear D- to find a defective LV product is as rare as finding a diamond on the beach! However, crap does happen. The Sales Associate obviously realized this and made the exchange, no questions asked. You did not tell us, however, how your replacement bag is holding up. I can't help but think it's fine, or you would have made a point of saying so. I never claimed the products were perfect, but the ones I've owned come pretty darn close. Good luck with yours.

Please forgive this, but I have a REALITY CHECK to share based upon my own sorry personal experience as a first-time Louis Vuitton customer. Make no mistake: I really DO love Louis Vuitton's classic monogram line, at least I did until I actually bought one and discovered that their products are just as problem-prone as a common department-store brand - well, actually more problematic than your average department store bargain bag according to my admittedly limited but abysmal experience thus far. I've been enamored with Louis Vuitton for nearly 20 years. But I'm not wealthy. So what do I do? I break down and buy a legitimate LV. Or rather my fiancé does me the favor. The first one is defective. The leather loops holding the handles to the base of the purse are so horribly tight on one side that the leather was VISIBLY frayed right out of the box. So my fiancé goes back to the store and the SA apologizes. He gets another speedy 25. Within 15 minutes of presenting it to me,
