This past Christmas, I wanted to get something that my four year old daughter could jump on....besides my couch! She was big enough that I feared for her safety as well as the life of my poor sofa. She has pretty predictable times of the day where she just needs to jump to soothe herself or to unwind or to rev up. Since I figured the need for jumping wasn't going to go away, we started looking at trampolines.

We ended up with the High Jump 40 Inch Mini Trampoline made by High Jump. I specifically wanted one for indoors, since her urges to jump occur while she watches TV, during a conversation, or even during a meal. The big outdoor trampolines are also unsafe for a four year old child in my opinion and that of almost every child safety expert and home owner insurer.

This mini trampoline has turned out to be the best toy we've ever bought! And at less than $40 including shipping, one of the least expensive toys we have purchased. The size (40" in diameter) is perfect for the little open area between our family area and dining area, so the trampoline is perfectly situated for those moments when the jumping urge strikes.

This mini trampoline by High Jump sits just 8 inches off the floor, so it is low enough to put to rest a lot of safety concerns. It's polyethlyene mesh jumping surface is not as bouncy as the big outdoor trampolines; and that is a good thing when you are talking about an indoor trampoline being used for a small child. It provides enough bounce to be fun, and enough stiffness that no one bounces off onto the floor.

It isn't that lovely to look at, really, and certainly doesn't add to the décor of our living room. But we gave up décor ala Martha Stewart or Southern Living long ago anyway. The High Jump mini trampoline has black polyethlyene mesh jump surface with a blue PVC cover. I suppose it could be uglier, really.

The mini trampoline sits securely on six sturdy metal legs. And since it weighs less than twenty pounds, it is easy to pick up and move with one hand while you are vacuuming or when company is coming and you need the room.
