Less than a decade ago, the DVR with TIVO was introduced through satellite television services. It utilizes a digital video recorder that continuously records the program being watched. While also recording programming on another channel simultaneously. TIVO was designed to help both the serious and occasional television viewer enhance the experience in a variety of ways. The most obvious plus to the TIVO system is that fact that you can scan the onscreen guide and easily program it to record various programs with the touch of a button. It gives an immediate option to select the program for a season pass. By choosing this, you will never miss your favorite programs again. It is just as simple to adjust it to start early or quit late if you worry about missing a few minutes. This is very good for sports programming that rarely ends on time.
The system will record your programs and display them to you on an easy to read listing. If you ask it to do so, it will group your programs by type so that you do not have to scan pages of old recordings to find what you are looking for. You can choose to save programs until you delete them or let the system delete them as space is needed for additional choices.
With TIVO and two satellite feeds, it is possible to watch a pre-recorded program while recording two additional programs at the same time. By doing it this way, you can speed through commercials and watch your programs in about ¼ less time.
If you happen to come into the middle of a program already in progress when you turn on your TV, you can either push record and keep the entire program from the beginning or back up the program and view it from the beginning. The only trick here is that the program has to be on the same channel that was playing when you turned on the TV.
