On April 5, 2007, Menu Foods located in Canada has voluntarily expanded the already horrifying pet food recall to cover even more dates than was previously covered in their food recall that covers more than 100 brands of pet food. Pet owners sit around anxiously reading labels and trying to decipher ingredients while the recall list grows almost daily.

When the recall was, first starting many will remember that the recall only included Menu Foods that was manufactured from December 3, 2006 up until March 6, 2007. This has been changed to bring the date of the recall up to November 8, 2006 until March 6, 2007. The recall has been linked to contaminated wheat gluten that was purchased from ChemNutra Inc. The good news is that ChemNutra Inc is no longer the current source of the wheat gluten after the contaminated batch they imported from Xuzhou Anying Biologic Technology Development Company in Wangdien, China.

The recall of the various pet foods now covers wet and dry foods all across the country. The has even been pet treats added recently to the recalls making it even more frightening for pet owners to give their beloved pets food. As the companies continue with the massive widespread recall many are forced to start looking for homemade pet food recipes to avoid the tragedy of the kidney failure linked to these recalls.

The recall scare is always badly shaken when a new brand is added to the list, as well as when more pictures of poor ill pets surface that became ill from eating the contaminated food. Treasure your pets, and carefully read the ingredient labels to avoid having a tragedy in your home. Stay tuned for more pet food recall news, as it is available.

The day before this came out my dogs were getting sick. My inside dog was very sick for 5 days before this. Guess what? Yep. My pet food was on the expanded list. Thanks for posting this.

Terrible thing, this recall. I feel for those whose pets have gotten sick. I'd be depressed if it happened to my cat.

This is getting out of hand. They should now have to pull everything off shelves that was up before a certain date and start over. Eat the costs...

This is a scary situation. It makes you wonder if the recall will be expanded further.

Yes it is. I double check the list as much as I can but it is hard to keep up. At times, I am almost thankful that we feed our dog human food.
