The Philips Sonicare Essence e5000 rechargeable toothbrush is a great way to clean your teeth. I got mine this year when it was time to buy a new manual brush. One of my New Year's resolutions was to "go green," and standing in the aisle of Target trying to decide on which new manual toothbrush to buy, it hit me that I would be causing less landfill with an electric toothbrush where I could replace the head and keep the base forever. Also I always hated those folding travel toothbrushes or plastic cases that fit over your regular toothbrush for travel. The Sonicare Essence e5000 electric toothbrush promised to not only clean my teeth better, but travel well and let me replace the head when it wears out. Perfect.

The toothbrush is perfect. I really feel like my teeth are cleaner with the Sonicare Essence e5000 toothbrush. And the company claims that this toothbrush is the number one recommended brand by dental professionals. It's easy for a novice like myself to use. Switching over from a manual to electric toothbrush is a little strange, especially as this was my first electric toothbrush. However, this model has an "Easy Start" feature that helps you get used to your Sonicare Essence e5000 that gently lets you get used to the power of the toothbrush, ramping up over a series of days. I highly recommend using this as it is a strange feeling to go from manual to electric power, particularly with the Sonicare brush, which at top speeds does 31,000 strokes per minute.

Takeaways
  • The Sonicare Essence e5000 comes with a two minute timer to ensure proper brushing time.
  • Once charged, the Sonicare Essence e5000 toothbrush stays powered for more than a week.
  • This light and easy power toothbrush by Sonicare makes it a great traveling companion.

..and remember storing the toothbrush in the bathroom tends to allow particles of feces and waste to build up on it, scientist reccomend storing the brush in an open air area away from toilets...but then again ho are we kidding, feces is everywhere. Also heard electric toothbrushes were rough on the gums, this sounds like maybe not so bad.

This review is right on target. It's very detailed. The toothbrush is expensive if you're used to buying the so-called rechargeable $5 power toothbrushes, but it is so worth the money. I will never use another toothbrush again. It's almost like you're going to the dentist's office for a cleaning every morning. Plus, it's not as jarring as other power toothbrushes. Your teeth are so clean, but it's gentle enough for sensitive teeht.
