Product Review: Gillette Venus Vibrance Razor

The Gilette Venus Vibrance razor is a new kind of razor for women, a hybrid between traditional razors with replaceable blades and power razors. In addition to the triple blade that the Gilette Venus has always used, this new razor is battery operated so that it vibrates. The vibration is supposed to give you a closer shave and help to exfoliate the skin as you use it. I have been using it for about a year now, and I am not sure it lives up to expectations.

I've always found the Gilette Venus to be the best razor available for women, and this razor is no exception. The wide handle makes it easy to grip, so that it does not slip when your hands are wet in the shower. The triple blade, give my legs a closer shave than any other razor I've found and leave me feeling smooth and clean, and the flat head design which is unique to the Venus adheres to the structure of a woman's legs, causing me to cut myself much less often than I did when I used other razors. Unlike other "women's" razors, which are often simply men's razors with pink handles, the Venus is specifically designed for the unique way in which women use razors.

I picked up the Venus Vibrance as soon as it came out, assuming that Gilette had made another wonderful leap forward in women's razor technology. To tell you the truth, though, I have not been able to notice a significant difference between the traditional Gilette Venus razor and the new Venus Vibrance. The vibrating is not unpleasant or uncomfortable, but it does not seem to make a noticeable difference in the quality of shave that I get. I've even tried using the Vibrance without the vibrations turned on and then with it turned on, and I don't really notice a difference.
