How to Help Friends Who Are Moving to a New House

Our friends finally found their dream house after looking around for months. They are happy and relieved to finally be moving soon, after all the stress that the scouting for a house has brought them.

Instead of hiring professinal movers, they talked to most of the male friends in our group and arranged for the date that is convenient for everyone. Naturally, I wanted to help, but because I have a little boy, I decided to stay home with my son, to be out of the way.

Still, I realized that there could be some ways that people can do to help those who are moving to their new home, if all that carrying is something you cannot do.

Help with the food. On the day of their move, they would be very busy. Everyone helping would be tired and hungry so it would be a great idea to cook for them, or prepare something for them to eat. That way, food would be one less problem for them. There would be no need for them to run to the store, or dine outside, which could be quite costly. Ask the owner of the house if you can bring the food to the new house, or if they would prefer to drop by your place.

You don't need to prepare a complicated dish. They may appreciate sandwiches. To make it yummier, you may put greens on the sandwiches. This would also lessen the hassle of bringing a salad bowl. You may also prepare spaghetti, and bring disposable plates and forks for less chores. If you are the type who likes to bake, then you may make them some brownies or cookies, so that they could have snacks available anytime too.

If the owner of the house prefers food to be bought and picked up, you may offer to do this also. Perhaps they would like pizza or burgers or sandwiches from the store, so just do the driving to pick up the food and bring it to them.
