The purpose of music education is always scrutinized when it comes down to subjects worth keeping. Music education is viewed as an unrealistic course that encourages the youth to fantasize about becoming a rock star. This is a reality for some people, but there is more to music than becoming the next great pop star. For instance, one could consider being a teacher, composer, songwriter, arranger, musician, singer, conductor, music therapist, music recording engineer, music producer, manager or agent. Now that we have established that there are definite career opportunities in music those unbelievers can now rest easy.

However, the best education in music is yet to come for those musical enthusiasts who yearn to learn more than just the era of ol' composers of Europe and how to play or sing their master pieces correctly. Music is more than just learning how to sing, read music and playing instruments. The joy of music is the sound, the journey, and the story which together makes the most ultimate creation we've grown accustomed to in practically every aspect of our lives.

There aren't many places that doesn't use music to coax people to buy, to relax in a doctors office, to entertain while you wait for a plane or train. The composers, songwriters and arrangers produce music that will suit every occasion from weddings to bar mitzvahs to funerals. Now the music industry is losing money when people down load free music reducing the worth of brilliant music by robbing the genius's of their rightful payment. That was an easy decision due to to the fact that no one truly thinks about what life would be like without music.

The thought of musicians having to limit their musical masterpieces to the venues where they can be paid is totally unthinkable as having old music play in stead of new music. Perhaps, in other countries they could deal with this, but we are a country who craves new things most of the time. To change what we are used to would knock us all out of balance, because it wouldn't feel right. The purpose of this article is to motivate all those who love music to support those who create good music we love to listen to.
