History of Rice Cultivation

Rice has been a historical staple food in cultivation in china for the more than 5000 years at the same time as the language and culture.Rice has a significance due to its use in ceremonies in harvest and artwork using the grains as well as the plant itself. There are thousands of different types of rice in different forms, yet the appearance of the original form of rice is not known. The proper climate needed for rice cultivation is a subtropical region where th weather is full of moisture with even temperatures and a medium water . This wonderful food has traveled to every place since the 17th century in the West African area by slaves who were taken to the American Carolinas, and Then it was introduced to India before the Greeks knew about it.

Wild Rice History

In Northern part of America in an remote areas deep in the lake or river bed is a cereal grain known as Wild Rice. This ancient grain existed in the earth more than 12,000 years ago as the main source of food for the ancestor people in the ancient times. Wild Rice makes a good home for fish and other creatures of the sea. There are different species of wild rice which are located in various parts of North America and Asia known as:

*Zizania Latifolia from Asia *Zizania Texana from Antonio Texas in San Marcos River *Zizania Aquatica from New Jersey to Florida
*Zizania Palustris from Western and Northern Areas of Great Lakes

Myths

Rice has been a part of many cultural folk tales in how this staple food came to be. It has been told by the Chinese that once a terrible flood destroyed the earth and all sources of food until a dog ran through the land giving everyone it passes rice seeds that hung from its tail once planted it cured all hunger. Another tale comes from Bali India where the lord Vishnu cause rice to come from the earth as the god Indra taught people how to cultivate it. In Myanmar, it was told that the kachins came from the earth with rice seeds to give to a country to make life and rice grow well. In many cultures storytelling is an important part to teach lesson or about history which people still believe today.
