Mother's Day Crafts for Kids: Mother's Day Photo Magnets

This simple Mother's Day magnetic frame is a great gift that the kids can make for Mom all by themselves as a gift on Mother's Day.

They are a simple way to display all of those school pictures through the years. If you use the CD cases you already have in your home, the kids should be able to easily make these magnetic Mother's Day frames for less than $10 easily.

To Make These Simple Mother's Day Frame Magnets You Will Need:

Empty CD boxes
Scissors

Glue

Round magnets

Pictures

Ribbon

Felt or Foam Core board

Ruler

Black Magic Marker

Cardboard or card stock

The first step is to open your CD box and take out the paper inserts and the molded plastic piece into which the CD fits.

Use your tape measure or ruler to measure your CD case. Now, draw this simple square out onto some pastel felt.

Fold the felt in half and cut a open shape out of the middle of the felt. This can be a heart, the outer outlines of the word "MOM," or any shape the kids want like a circle.

Draw out the same CD box square onto the photo and Cut your photo to just smaller than the CD box. You will be fitting it into the back of the box with the hinged edge at the top, so about 4 inches wide and 4 ¾ inches high will be about right.

Fix the photo against the plastic with a few small pieces of sticky-tape. Find a nice piece of cardboard, card stock, gift wrap or foam board will help to fit the photo snugly behind the plastic and to the edges of the Mother's Day frame.

Now, use your hot glue gun to glue some of your magnets on the back the CD case. Epoxy glue would also work for this step.

Now, to decorate the outside of the mother's day frame you can Take some felt and cut it out into more fun small shapes.

Now, glue the felt shape to the CD case on the front.

Take your small felt cut out and use puff paint, more felt, and fabric paint to decorate it.

Now, glue the small decorated felt shapes on to the frame at and angle over one of the corners. It can over lap the opening a little.

Tips:

You can use artwork in place of a photo. Kids make tons of artwork at school, home, and church. You can simply open up the CD case magnetic a change out the photo for a more up to date picture or new artwork.
