Teens are turning away from their parent’s religion and becoming involved with Wicca for many different reasons. One of the most common excuses is that the child can make their own decisions, live their own life, be who they want to be, and bow down to no one. This sounds very much like the normal teenage rants of rebellion, and it is! However, if one was to listen closely, it sounds like Satan talking to God when the war in heaven began, and Eve in the garden after the serpent had successfully tempted her, and Satan trying to tempt Jesus to not do what his father commanded him.

Unfortunately, a rebelling child will not only get body piercing or tattoos to show their independence and freedom. Authority in general, especially those that was chosen for them by anyone else than them, is under fire. This includes religious boundaries, ethics and morals that parents have taught.

Most Wiccans hold to the “An it harm none, do as you will”. The self-regulation of ethics, morals and religion is very much in line with the ‘I am my own boss!’ attitude. Sexuality is not governed by the sanctity of marriage and God, but by the consent of
individuals. Self improvement techniques is self-empowerment rituals, and a bothered conscience is said to be the mere result of cultural Christianity brainwashing. Power trips have always been the downfall of Satan. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the silver tongued adversary would make power trips the downfall of man also. The lure of magic, gods and goddesses are very compelling to teens. Why? Because of power, the power to control the circumstances of their life, and the power to be more than their peers.

Takeaways
  • Treating the child respectfully aids in the disenchantment of Wicca.
  • Many Pagans gladly teach religion to minors without parental consent.
  • There is many choices in Christianity for teens to choose from.
Did You Know?
The power of magic and rank titles encourage self empowerment instead of God empowerment.

you really shouldn't judge like that, i respect your views and do not call you a devil or say that you worship the devil for a different view, in fact pagans and wiccans really don't believe in the extremes of good or bad, therefore we do not have a satan or devil!

Another thing you should think of is instead of seeing wicca and then start calling every pastor and exersist you know, try to understand where they are coming from. You know, there may always be the possibility that you are misstaking in your belief system, not them.

This world hes not for a while or probably will ever again be pagan focused. Christianity is still a major force. In fact one of my friends was turned away from wicca and paganism in general for fear of being thrown out and basicaly forgotten by her family. This, not the media, rebellion, or proselytizing wiccans, is a major factor in why anyone would turn away from christianity, it is not an understanding religion. It will cast out anything, no matter how dear, to proctect what it belives. This superficiality is THE reason people convert to any religion from christianity.

also do you know anything about wicca....??wiccan means witch....but the term most used is Wicca and i can see why....due to losed minded people who assume witchs go around worshiping the devil and making sacrifices.....

also to say that many chidren are turning to wicca...isn't true.....they might not be listing to whatever your saying...but that in no way means they are participating in wiccan beleifs....just as beleiving in god dosen't auto maticaly make anyone chrstian......

In no way do I negate your choice to be Christian or disrespect your right to write about whatever you choose- my question is, how can you call it a Pagan world? Christianity domminates the world over and has taken over pagan traditions and throughout history destroyed pagans, pagan temples, art, way of life,......you and I live on stolen land- I live in a California Mission town where the mission literally sits on sacred stolen gravesites, most deaths the result of genocide........You also seem to precieve the concept of Satan as synonomous with Wicca and Pagan religion. All in all it is clear you know very little about Paganism, if anything. With respect to your chosen chritianity, why not write about what you know?- This being christianity, not paganism.

Something else you may want to consider, offer them the Bible instead of church, God instead of preachers. I have noticed that a lot of the "rebels" feel that a preacher or church has beliefs on deity, theology, and philosophy that differs vastly from their own. Invite them to spend time in study, instead of forced churchgoing. This allows them what they actually desire, the ability to use their minds to make informed decisions on religion. I am pagan, but believe in a single ultimate source. I do not call this a god, as I feel that there are gods which came from this source. I have many beliefs that are actually "Christian", but feel more connected to pagan spirituality. In all, I think that your article was well-written and informative. And your advice was wonderful. Thank you for having respect for those who will be our future.

I will delete every ignorant comment, and I don't care if it looks strange. I am sick of the harassment. I did not write the word Wiccan in my article. I used the word witch or Pagan. The editor did it without my knowledge. So please, leave me alone.

Depends on what your view of nothing is. If your disappointed because my enlightened path didn't end with Paganism, then THANK GOD I DIDN'T LEARN SOMETHING!
