There are many free activities in the Greater Los Angeles area during the summer months. The dozens of beaches on the Pacific Coast, near the Los Angeles area are easily accessible for summer days of sun, outdoor sports, people watching, and long walks along the beach. All of these activities are free to any visitor to one of the Greater Los Angeles Beaches. Other free activities in the Greater Los Angeles area during the summer include free concerts, children's programs, and special events.

Free Concerts in Marina del Rey

Free summer concerts are offered each Thursday and Saturday, during the summer months in Marina del Rey, at Chace Park. The official address for the Marina del Rey concerts is 13650 Mindanao Way. Parking is available in nearby parking lots. Visitors may picnic at the park before the summer concerts and watch the sun set over the Marina del Rey harbor before the music begins at 7 pm. On Thursday nights at 7, Symphonic concerts are held, and on Saturdays, Pop concerts are scheduled. Call (310) 305-9545 for more information about the concert series.

Dance Downtown

Come to downtown Los Angeles on Friday nights for an evening of dancing and entertainment between April and October. The Plaza at the Music Center hosts free Friday night dancing and dance lessons for beginners at 6:30 pm on Friday nights. Live music and a dance area provide visitors with a lively and free Friday evening in Los Angeles. The Plaza at the Music Center is located at 135 N. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles. More information about the free dancing on Friday evenings can be found at www.musiccenter.org. Dancing runs from 6:30 until 10:00 pm.

Hollywood

An day trip or evening walk through Hollywood is a great way to enjoy some free summer activities in the Greater Los Angeles area. Take a walk down Hollywood's Walk of Fame and see some of the famous celebrity hand and footprints, or visit the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theater. Check the local guide to see what events are in town and watch the celebrities walk down the red carpet for the many premiers and events often held in the Hollywood area.
