Have you ever read the ingredients and warnings on your cleaning supply labels? Every day we plunge our hands into some very toxic chemicals. Because we buy it from the store we think it is safe. Our skin absorbs whatever it comes in contact with, including those chemicals. Who knows what long-term contact with the skin, or breathing the fumes and vapors really does to us. Read those warning labels and you may feel differently about your cleaning supplies! There is another way. Stir up your own homemade, and much safer cleaning products. It is affordable, easy, and much more health conscious than the products you buy off the shelf. What's really great, is they work! Let's get started.

A great all purpose cleaner is Baking Soda. It is a natural deodorizer, has a little grit for scrubbing, and in fact you can even brush your teeth with it safely. For general cleaning purposes dissolve 5 Tablespoons of Baking Soda in a quart of warm water. Instant all purpose cleaner, great for the kitchen, and the bathroom. If you have some tough grime, like a sink or bathtub, just shake baking soda onto a damp sponge, scrub, and rinse. Instant squeaky clean!

Another great natural antiseptic cleaner is Vinegar. Simply add 1 cup of white or cider vinegar to 32 ounces of water in a spray bottle. If your bottle is smaller, just premix it in an old milk jug and label it, then pour the amount you need into your sprayer. This natural cleaning solution is great for cleaning mirrors, glass, counter tops, and other slick non-porous surfaces.
