Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in a new Ridley Scott thriller that will have him tracking an Al Qaeda leader.

The three-time Oscar nominee is in the early stages of talks with Warner Bros. to star in the film which will be directed by Ridley Scott in a screen adaptation of David Ignatious' 'Body of Lies' novel.

The role will have DiCaprio in a post 9-11 spy thriller playing a journalist turned CIA agent. The character will travel to Jordan to track an Al Qaeda leader who is believed to be planning an attack on U.S. soil.

In addition to Ridley Scott directing, William Monahan will write the script. Monahan is coming off an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for his authorship of 'The Departed.' It will be the third time Monahan has written a script for Scott. He wrote the screenplays for 2005's 'Kingdom of Heaven' and the soon to be made 'Tripoli,' which will feature an epic Barbary Coast battle.

Reports indicate that Scott is currently scouting locales in Morocco for the movie to be filmed. 'Body of Lies' will also be set in Washington D.C., Europe, and the Middle East.

If DiCaprio signs on, he will begin work on the film after finishing up with 'Revolutionary Road,' a drama that costars Kate Winslett and will be directed by Sam Mendes, Winslett's husband and Oscar winning director of 'American Beauty.'

The film has DiCaprio and Winslett together in a film for the first time since their roles in 'Titanic.' 'Revolutionary Road' is a film about a 1950 era married couple with children who have it all in suburbia. Despite this they decide to move to France to pursue their artistic ideals.

DiCaprio is also set to star in the movie adaptation of Malcolm Gladwell's nonfiction book 'Blink.' The book is a series of stories about making snap decisions and knowing when you should trust your first impressions.

Scott is finishing up 'American Gangster,' starring Denzel Washington. The film has Washington playing the role of a powerful Harlem drug lord with Russell Crowe playing a detective trying to take him down.
