Trump Resorts Dispute Union Election
p Plaza casino. Dealers at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino had voted overwhelmingly to form a labor union, but casino management now states that the election was unfair and not properly conducted.

At the beginning of the month, dealers at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino voted 324 to 149 to form a labor union for casino dealers. The Trump Plaza vote, which held a margin of more than 2 to 1, was the second election within a month where casino dealers chose to form a labor union.

The first labor union was passed by a vote on March 17 and covered dealers working at Caesars Palace Atlantic City. The process of forming the labor union went smoothly in that case because the parent company of Caesars, Harrahs Entertainment Inc., did not challenge the election results. Workers at Trump Plaza have not been so lucky.

Despite the overwhelming vote by casino dealers to form a labor union, officials at Trump Resorts have filed an official objection with the National Labor Relations Board. The company is hoping to have the results of the March 31 election rejected by the National Labor Relations Board and to have a new election held at a new date.

Claims cited on the objection filed by Trump Plaza state that the United Auto Workers Union, the group hoping to represent the casino dealers, falsely represented themselves to dealers by implying that the National Labor Relations Board supported them in the election. The company also stated that a political rally held on March 25th gave the false impression that the UAW was already representing casino dealers, before the election.

Oh boy - what a mess this will be. I would like to be a fly on Trump's nightstand over this one.
